Granville harbour is divided among four types of activities : sailing, fishing, transportation to the archipelago of Chausey and the freight transport, however in decrease. The development project must take into account the various activities of the harbour, and favour their coexistence while reinforcing the urban character of the port. Access to vehicles boarding onto  shuffles to Chausey Islands will be improved, and  adjacent docks will be renovated and more open to pedestrians.

The specific features of both the site and programme constraint architects to take into account the unusual gigantic dimensions of the project, close to land art. The strength of the project is the renovation of the main seawall, which cut in half, looses its barrier appearance while continuing to fulfill its protective role.
